February 21, 2019 – Avery Elementary Life Safety
HVAC Upgrades
Work has been completed on the HVAC equipment upgrades at Avery Elementary School. The project involved the replacement of the existing HVAC equipment in the building and improvements in life safety items. Life safety and security considerations that were taken care of included the installation of a fire sprinkler system throughout the building, inclusion of a new security entrance vestibule and additional cameras around the perimeter of the building. The project also included the replacement of some existing railroad tie walls located at a couple of areas on the site that are starting to tip and lean and to replace them with new concrete block segmental retaining walls.
February 21, 2019 – LeMay Elementary School
Sections of roof areas at LeMay Elementary School that were identified as in poor condition were replaced in 2018. This work in conjunction with the replacement of some of the older pieces of HVAC equipment that occurred in 2017 has taken care of some of the major items of need for the building included in the overall Bond Program. No additional immediate need work is scheduled for the building is scheduled for the next several years.
February 21, 2019 – Betz Elementary School
A couple of major projects were completed in 2018 at Betz. The first project involved the replacement of the entire roof system. The roof had been identified in a previous study as one being in severe need for updating and was completely replaced. New metal fascia was also installed around the building to eliminate the need for maintenance by the District.
The major project at Betz involved the replacement of the existing steam heating and central chiller air conditioning equipment with a new Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heating and cooling system. This new system should provide a highly efficient mechanical system which provides more individual controls in the individual building areas and should provide energy savings to the District over the life of the system.
February 21, 2019 – Wake Robin Elementary School
Roof Project
The roofing work that occurred in the Summer of 2018 at Wake Robin Elementary School replaced the entire roof system on the building and work has been fully completed. No new work is scheduled for the 2019-2020 school year, but some additional work will occur as part of the overall bond program in the coming years.
