The meeting began at 6:00 p.m. at the Lied Activity Center.
Technology/Security – Greg Boettger, Director of Facilities and Technology shared the bids on multiple
projects slated for the Bellevue East Auditorium. These bids will be taken to the Board for approval at the
June 3rd Board meeting.
Mr. Boettger received a bid from Heartland Scenic Studio Inc., in the amount of $81,517 for the upgrades
to the current theatre sound system in the auditorium at Bellevue East. Some of the upgrades include the
sound board mixer, speakers, amplifiers, microphone, intercom system, light board, and lighting controls.
Heartland Scenic Studio Inc., will also install new curtains in the amount of $33,365.00 and upgrade the
sound system in the main gymnasium in the amount of $3,295.00.
Mr. Boettger also received two bids from StageRight in the amount of $14,385.00 and $20,530.00 for
new choral risers and a portable sound shell.
The final bid Mr. Boettger received for the upgrade to the Bellevue East auditorium was from CCS
Presentation Systems for a new projector and screen in the amount of $31,312.83.
Mr. Boettger will research the cost to replace the stage top flooring during the summer of 2020.
Safety/Security – Mr. Boettger will ask the Board to approve the bid from Prime Communications in the
amount of 21,830.24 for additional security camera’s to be installed at Bellevue West. Also, additional
camera’s will be installed in the pool area, athletic courts, front lobby and outside the Lied Activity
Center by Prime Communications in the amount of 35,391.31.
Upcoming Projects – Mr. Boettger shared a report showing future projects and a timeline for projects
that are slated to be completed with bond funds. The group held a discussion also on priority projects that
were shown on the report and possible projects that could be delayed. Mr. Boettger also shared roofing
projects that are critical to be completed.
Pay Requests – The following pay requests will be submitted to the Board for approval at the June 3rd
Board of Education meeting.
Bellevue East High HVAC (Lueder) $221,287.94
Birchcrest (Rife) $19,259.06
Belleaire (Mark 7) $57,415.50
Bellevue East 2018-19 Roof Projects – The perimeter metal arrived and will be completed prior to
graduation.
Bellevue East Main Gym – Mr. Gladbach shared materials will arrive by June 3rd with work beginning
immediately. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of July, 2019.
Bellevue East HVAC – Mr. Gladbach reported the HVAC updates are wrapping up in the pool area. The
work in the gym has been completed and is ready for graduation. The contractor will begin work on the
2nd floor administration area and auditorium this summer after school is released.
Track Projects – At the April, 2019 Board meeting the track resurfacing project was awarded to
Midwest Tennis and Track. Mr. Gladbach had a pre-construction meeting with the contractor and shared
the timeline for the work to be completed at the Bellevue East and Bellevue West tracks. Work will begin
at Bellevue West the week of May 20th, now that State track has taken place. The contractor will rotate
crews between the projects to stay on schedule. Anticipated completion is the end of July, 2019.
Also, a pre-construction meeting was held with Nemaha Landscape Construction to determine a timeline
for work to begin on the tracks at Logan Fontenelle and Mission. The initial field work will begin the
week of May 20th at Mission and then to Logan Fontenelle. Work should be completed by the start of the
2019 school year.
Central Project – At the March 4th Board meeting the Central life safety/HVAC project was awarded to
Ray Martin Company. Mr. Gladbach reported the contractor will begin work on May 28th.

Ray Martin Company. Mr. Gladbach held a preconstruction meeting with the contractor and the building
administration to determine that work will begin at the end of May when school is dismissed.
Belleaire Project – At the March 4th Board meeting the Belleaire life safety/HVAC project was awarded
to Mark VII Enterprise. Work will begin on May 24th after school is released for the summer. Also, Mr.
Gladbach reported the windows at Belleaire are scheduled to be completed by the time school is back in
session. The contractor will have additional installers handling the project to make sure the windows in
the classroom areas are completed by August, 2019.
Birchcrest Projects – At April 8th Board meeting the Birchcrest life safety/HVAC project was awarded to
Rife Construction. A preconstruction meeting was held with Rife Construction and the major contractors.
The anticipated start date will be the end of May with completion scheduled prior to school beginning in
August.
Central Roof Project – At the March 4th Board meeting the Central partial roof replacement project was
awarded to 10 Men Roofing Company. Mr. Gladbach had a preconstruction meeting with the contractor.
Work on the project is anticipated to start June 1st and completed prior to school starting in August, 2019.
Belleaire Roof Project – At the March 4th Board meeting the Belleaire partial roof replacement project
was awarded to 10 Men Roofing Company. Mr. Gladbach had a preconstruction meeting with the
contractor. Work on the project is anticipated to start June 1st and completed prior to school starting in
August, 2019.
Welcome Center – Mr. Boettger shared the heat pump in the print shop at the Welcome Center is in need
of being replaced. The bid from Plibrico Company in the amount of $7,937.00 will be presented to the
Board for approval at the June 3rd Board meeting.
Birchcrest Project – At April 8th Board meeting the Birchcrest life safety/HVAC project was awarded to
Rife Construction. A preconstruction meeting was held on May 14th to determine that work on the project
will begin on May 28th. Work is scheduled to be completed prior to school starting in August, 2019.
Central Roof Project – At the March 4th Board meeting the Central partial roof replacement project was
awarded to 10 Men Roofing Company. Mr. Gladbach shared work on the project will start June 1st and
completed prior to school starting in August, 2019.
Belleaire Roof Project – At the March 4th Board meeting the Belleaire partial roof replacement project
was awarded to 10 Men Roofing Company. Work will also begin on June 1st. The contractor will have
two separate crews working on the Central and Belleaire roofing projects so they are completed by the
start of school in August, 2019.
Birchcrest Roof Replacement – At the April 8th Board meeting the Birchcrest partial roof replacement
project was awarded to Mejia Roofing Company. The contractor will begin work on May 24th on the
project with completion by the last week in June, 2019.
Logan Fontenelle Chiller – Mr. Boettger reported the new chiller at Logan Fontenelle is working
properly and is very quiet.
Lied Activity Center Pool – Waters Edge Aquatic Design who is working on the design of the pool
renovation for the Lied Activity Center discovered a new vertical sand filter system that would save more
water and is a more efficient system. Once bids are release and reviewed, Mr. Gladbach will share the
bids with the Oversight Committee with anticipated Board approval at the July 8th Board meeting.
OPPD Rebates – Rebates for Bellevue East will be submitted once the project is completed.
Website Review – There have not been any revisions to the BPS Bond website.
The Committee adjourned the meeting at 7:37 p.m. The next meeting will be June 18th at Birchcrest
Elementary. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr. Gladbach gave Committee members a tour of the pool
area to show them the project that will begin this summer.
